David Dibosa trained as a curator, after receiving his first degree from Girton College, University of Cambridge.

Biography

He was awarded his PhD in Art History from Goldsmiths College, University of London. During the 1990s, he curated public art projects. From 2004-2008, he was Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Theory at Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts, London. In his role as Acting Director for Engine Room, he continues his research focus on museums and their spectators. David’s evaluation of national projects, such as Visual Dialogues, has enabled him to look at the relationship between regional museums and national institutions. As co-investigator for the project Tate Encounters, he has been examining the relationship between art and national identity, alongside colleagues from Tate Britain and London South Bank University.

David’s published work focuses on art and cultural difference. It includes: ‘How to Speak Borders’ in the Turkish journal Toplumbilim (autumn, 2007), ‘The Self that Follows the Discipline’ in the online journal, [E]dition, (London, autumn 2008) and ‘Queer Appearances: the Visual Strategies of Gilbert George’ in the Sexualities journal (2009).
